This is a classic dairy free alternative to whipped cream that has been used by vegans for years! Preperation is key, but it is so worth it and the actual process is so easy!

Preparation Tips:

  • Ensure the coconut milk brand you choose does not have guar gum added
  • Select a full-fat coconut milk
  • Refrigerate the coconut milk for 24 hours
  • Open the can upside down so you can pour the liquid part out easily
  • Use a chilled bowl to whisk the coconut cream

    Choose a coconut milk brand that does not have guar gum added and is full fat (we recommend Biona as it has nothing added but water). Leave in the fridge for at least 24 hours.

    Open the can upside down and pour out the watery half (you can use this for other recipes or adding to smoothies!). You should be left with the solid part of the coconut milk (coconut cream).

  • 3.

    Scoop the coconut cream into a bowl with high sides and whisk with an electric hand whisk or in a food processor with a whisk attachment until it is fluffy and lighter like whipped cream.

  • 4.

    Optional: Add in any liquid sweetener of your choice and perhaps a flavour like vanilla or almond.
