Classic Hummus

Classic Hummus

This is a great base for a quick but classic hummus recipe, we have focused on this being a very quick version but tasty too. However, feel free to have a play around with quantities and extra ingredients. Everyone is different and the beauty of hummus is that you can tweak it to what you like!

For example, add a bit of smokiness with smoked paprika, more oil for creaminess, remove the tahini completely if you don't like the slight bitterness (or try different tahinis - dark and raw tahinis will be more bitter than light and roasted) etc.

You could also experiment with using soaked dried chickpeas vs tinned. Some people even swear by boiling tinned chickpeas to get that extra silky smoothness.

Have fun!

  • 1.

Drain the chickpeas but keep the liquid from the tin. If you are using garlic, soak it in the lemon juice for at least 10 minutes to take the edge off.

  • 2.

Add everything to a blender apart from the aquafaba.

  • 3.

Once blended well, add the aquafaba to loosen it up. Add more aquafaba if needed and more olive oil if you like.

  • 4.

Taste and adjust according to what you prefer.
