Why not make your own brown rice milk - it's naturally slightly sweet and one of our favourite alternatives to dairy milk.

    Cook the rice for 45 minutes so it is very soft but not soggy. Make sure it does not boil dry.

  • 2.

    Combine the cooked rice and water in a blender and whizz up until smooth. Add any extras at this stage to flavour or sweeten - honey, dates, cinnamon, vanilla etc.

  • 3.

    Either drink the thick milk as it is or pour through a fine sieve for a more watery consistency.
