Shiitake Mushroom

Shiitake mushroom (Lentinus edodes) is an edible fungus native to Asia and grown in forests, that's why is often called forest mushrooms. These dried Shiitake mushrooms have four to ten times the flavour of common white button mushrooms. In addition to their robust, woodsy flavour and meaty texture, shiitakes provide high levels of protein. Shiitake mushrooms go well in tofu dishes, stir-fries, soups, sauces and gravies.
