Almonds are common in some middle eastern countries, especially in Israel, Iran, and Palestine. They have two common tastes, the bitter and the sweet. Usually the white flowers bear the sweet one and the pink flowers bear the bitter almonds.
Almonds are usually eaten raw and are a common topping for desserts like ice cream, chocolates and marzipan. Almonds are known to be high in nutrients like protein, calcium, and magnesium. No wonder it is a such a popular nut. They may be small but the almond nutritional benefits are not.
