Glace Orange

Glace oranges or candied oranges as they are also known, are incredibly indulgent sweet treats traditionally enjoyed around Christmas time. They are available in a variety of forms - whole oranges, orange slices, and orange peel, each have all been candied in the same way.

How are the oranges candied?

Glace oranges, in any form, have been immersed in sugar syrup (dissolved granulated sugar in hot water) and brought to the boil and left simmering for 2-3 hours. Following this, the individual pieces of candied orange are placed in a cool oven to dry out for an hour or so before being air dried for a further hour. Once this process is complete, the candied fruit is then packaged ready for your enjoyment.
