Erythritol is an alcohol sugar or polyol used for cooking and replacing sugar, it has almost zero calories, zero carbs, and a zero glycemic index score. It is absorbed by the body but not metabolised, so it provides no calories, no active carbs and no sugar.
It has been in our diets for thousands of years due to its presences in fruits and other foods. Erythritol has no affect on either blood sugar or insulin levels, so it is safe for people with diabetes. Erythritol is also not harmful to tooth enamel and does not contribute to tooth decay.
